Christopher Rosier DBA The Unlabeled Company ("we," "our," or "us") operates the Blue Sous Chef website at https://bluesouschef.com (the "Website") and the Blue Sous Chef iOS application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. The Website and the App are governed by different practices, so this policy is split into two clearly labeled parts so you (and the App Store reviewer) can see exactly how each is handled.
By using the Website or the App, you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not use them.
Part A — Website Privacy (https://bluesouschef.com)
The Website is a marketing site whose primary purpose is to let people learn about Blue Sous Chef, read the blog, contact us, and join the launch waitlist.
A.1 Information We Collect on the Website
- Waitlist sign-up: When you join the waitlist, we collect the email address you submit and which page you signed up from.
- Contact form / support email: If you contact us, we collect your name (if provided), email address, and the contents of your message.
- Unsubscribe requests: If you unsubscribe, we record that your email opted out so we honor the request.
- Basic technical data: Standard server logs (IP address, user agent, timestamp) used to operate, secure, and debug the Website.
A.2 How We Use Website Information
- Send waitlist updates and launch announcements you signed up for
- Respond to support and contact requests
- Operate, secure, and improve the Website
We do not sell Website data and we do not use it to build advertising profiles.
A.3 Website Service Providers
- Supabase — database and storage for waitlist and contact submissions. Privacy policy

- Cloudflare — hosting, CDN, and DDoS protection for the Website. Privacy policy
A.4 Website Retention
- Waitlist email: retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion, then removed within 30 days.
- Contact messages: retained as long as needed to resolve your request, typically up to 24 months.
- Server logs: retained for up to 30 days for security and debugging.
Part B — iOS App Privacy (Blue Sous Chef App)
The Blue Sous Chef iOS app is designed to be private by default: there are no accounts, no sign-up, and we operate no servers that store your personal data. Your progress lives on your device and in your own iCloud. This section is what governs your experience inside the App, including in-app purchases and AI features.
B.1 Information the App Does NOT Collect
- We do not require account creation or sign-in.
- We do not collect your name, email, or contact information from the App.
- We do not run product analytics or behavioral tracking SDKs in the App.
- We do not sell App data or build advertising profiles from it.
- We operate no servers that store your App personal information.
B.2 Information Stored On Your Device and in Your iCloud
- App progress and preferences — your recipes, lessons, streaks, Spice balance, settings, and similar data are stored locally on your device using Apple's on-device storage.
- iCloud sync — to let your progress survive a reinstall and follow you across your devices, this data is synced through your own iCloud account (Apple's iCloud Key-Value Store). It is stored in your private iCloud space, governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. We cannot read it.
B.3 Information Processed Only When You Use Certain App Features
- AI recipe import & pantry suggestions — when you import a recipe (from a URL, photo text, or pasted text) or ask for meal ideas from your pantry, the relevant text is sent to OpenRouter (an AI provider gateway) to generate a result. We do not attach your identity to these requests.
- Premium text-to-speech (Pro) — when a premium voice is enabled, the text to be spoken is sent to ElevenLabs to synthesize audio.
- Voice commands — spoken commands (e.g., "next," "start timer") are processed using Apple's Speech framework. This recognition runs on Apple's platform and is not sent to our servers.
B.4 Advertising (Free Tier)
For users on the free tier, we show ads via Google AdMob (rewarded and interstitial). AdMob may access a device advertising identifier to personalize ads only if you grant permission through Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) prompt. If you decline, ads are still shown but are not personalized using that identifier. Pro subscribers see no ads.
B.5 Purchases
In-app purchases and subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment details. We receive only an anonymous signal from Apple about whether a purchase or subscription is active.
B.6 App Third-Party Services

B.7 App Retention
- On-device and iCloud data: retained until you delete the App and/or remove the data from your iCloud. You are in control of it at all times.
- Feature-processing data (AI import text, TTS text): we do not store it. Third-party processors may retain request data per their own policies.
- We hold no App user databases, so there is nothing for us to retain on your behalf.
Part C — Common Provisions
C.1 How Information Is Shared
We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information. Information is shared only with the service providers needed to deliver the features you use (listed above), each acting as a processor under its own privacy policy, or where required by law, or in connection with a business transfer (merger, acquisition, or sale of assets).
C.2 Data Security
All network communication uses encryption in transit (TLS/HTTPS). On-device App data is protected by Apple's platform storage protections; iCloud data is encrypted by Apple. We minimize data flow by design — features only transmit what they need, when you use them. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we take commercially reasonable steps to protect your data.
C.3 Your Rights and Choices
For Website data (waitlist, contact messages), you can access, correct, export, or delete your information, and unsubscribe from emails at any time (every email includes an unsubscribe link). For App data, you can exercise the most important controls yourself: your data lives on your device and in your iCloud, you can delete the App and remove its iCloud data, and you can control ad tracking via iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. C.4 European Economic Area, UK & Switzerland (GDPR)
The Unlabeled Company is the data controller. We process data based on your consent (waitlist emails, ad personalization via ATT), to perform our contract with you (providing the requested features), and our legitimate interests (operating and securing the Website and App). You may access, rectify, erase, restrict, port, or object to processing of your data, and you may lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. International transfers to our processors are made under appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.
C.5 California (CCPA/CPRA)
California residents may request the categories and specific pieces of personal information we collect, request deletion, and request correction. We do not sell or "share" personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising in the sense defined by California law, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
C.6 Children's Privacy
Neither the Website nor the App is directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us at hello@bluesouschef.com and we will delete it.
C.7 Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy. For significant changes we will update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you by email or in the App. The current version is always available at https://bluesouschef.com/privacy.
